Do you take commissions?

Absolutely - 'custom' is in our name and it's something we love. Get in touch with us with the vision you have in mind and we will put together a quote and work with you to create something spectacular.

How do I place a custom order?

Send us through an enquiry via the Custom Signs form or send an email to sales@customsteelappeal.com.au Include as much detail as possible so we can get an accurate quote for you (even an example image if you’ve seen something you love). We need to know the dimensions, any text and/or image cutouts, the type of steel you want it cut from, and whether shipping will be required.

How big can you cut?

Our laser bed fits up to 2.5m x 1.25, however the metal we most commonly use comes in 2.4m x 1.2m sheets. To see our full capabilities, check out Our Services page for more detail.

How do I hang my sign?

There are a wide variety of factors in determining the best way to hang or display a sign.  Check out our more detailed post with a few ideas as well as some examples from our previous customers.

Are all your products Australian made?

Yes! All products are made on site by us in the Adelaide Hills.  We most commonly use REDCOR, which is a weathering steel made right here in Australia by Bluescope.

Where can I see your products?

We are a home based business in Mt Barker SA. You are welcome to visit us by appointment if you’re after something in particular. We attend local marketsin the Adelaide Hills several times a year (watch our social pages for details), and you can also find a selection of our range at several different Stockists.

What are your products made from?

The majority of our signs & garden decor items are cut from REDCOR weathering steel. It is durable, requires no maintenance, and has a beautiful rustic patina.
We can also cut in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and even wood and acrylic.

What's the difference between Weathering and Mild Steel?

Weathering steel is often referred to by its trademark name COR-TEN (or simply Corten) and is known for its superior corrosion resistance and thickness. This is because the surface of the steel forms a protective oxide layer when exposed to the weather. In other words, the steel is allowed to rust in order to protect itself. This protective surface layer continues to regenerate over years of exposure.

Mild Steel is a lighter metal and would be considered to be a 'standard' steel when looking at metal items outdoors. While it is also hard wearing and will weather, it will leak rust onto adjacent surfaces. Mild steel is ideal for painting or powder-coating if this is an option you prefer.

Can you make 3D items like letterboxes or firepits?

Yes. We are experimenting with a few letterbox and custom planter designs.  We don't have the capacity to create these as a regular product range, but you're more than welcome to get in touch with us to create a custom piece just for you.

Are your products available for retailers?

Yes - we would love the opportunity to work with you. You can submit an application on our dedicated wholesale website here.

Postage & Troubleshooting

Can you post your items?

Yes. We can arrange postage for almost any of our products. See our Shipping & Delivery page for more details.

Help - I'm getting the error "We don't ship to your destination" at the checkout.

We are so sorry. This usually means you have an item in your cart that is pickup only or is excluded from our flat-rate postage. These include our long-staked items such as butterflies, bees, dragonflies & sunflowers. Our large Garden Features (such as our kangaroos & emus) require a quote for postage as these are excluded from our $13.50 flat-rate due to their size.
